MUSIC: Crieff Folk Club Burns Night Supper

Crieff Folk Club presents a special Burns Night Supper and concert to celebrate the music of Scotland’s National Bard!

Enjoy a delightful two-course supper, complete with a piper and traditional address to the haggis, followed by an evening of entertainment featuring the Eilidh Grant Trio plus two additional local artists performing their rendition of Burns' songs.

Tickets are £37, but if you book before 31 December 2024, you can enjoy an Early bird discount for just £32. Ticket price includes a supper of haggis neeps and tatties followed by cheese and biscuits plus a dram of whisky or a glass of fizz. Vegetarians and those with food allergies can be catered for, please indicate your requirements online when buying your tickets.

Eilidh Grant Trio

Featuring Vocalist Eilidh Grant, Fiona Cuthill on Fiddle and Stevie Lawrence on Acoustic Guitar and Bouzouki, the Eilidh Grant Trio bring a wide range of musical influences to create their unique sound. All 3 performers have experience of performing and arranging the songs of Robert Burns.

Eilidh Grant: Vocals, Acoustic Guitar

With a love for traditional and contemporary folk alike, underpinned by a passion for the works of Robert Burns, Eilidh’s stunning voice beautifully renders both classic folk songs and original material and has made a considerable impression on the British and European folk scenes.

Her vocal style won her the Danny Kyle award at the 2004 Celtic Connections festival
and since then she has gone on to perform at some of the best venues in the country and has shared stages with some of the best and most well-known musicians of today.

Eilidh’s passion and interpretation of Burns have seen her being a featured performer at the Robert Burns Humanitarian Awards.

Fiona Cuthill: Fiddle

Fiona was classically trained in violin by Bill Baxter, who played in the renowned Halley Orchestra. After leaving school, she studied more traditional styles of playing and spent the next 10 years playing in ceilidh bands and sessions all over the country.

Fiona has been a member of several traditional/folk bands in her career so far, including Whirligig, Canterach, and Real Time. She is currently performing with Rallion, Raintown, The Wendy Weatherby Band and Wet, Wet, Wet bassist Graeme Clark,

Stevie Lawrence: Acoustic Guitar, Bouzouki

Working with Cruachan for 6 years playing Festivals and Folk Clubs all over Scotland, he then joined the ranks of The Iron Horse. He recorded 3 albums (including the soundtrack to BBC networked series, “The GameKeeper”), with the band as well as touring worldwide.

After leaving Iron Horse, Stevie carved a career as session musician, arranger and producer and has worked with a diverse range of artists.

He was also a member “The Red Hot Chilli Pipers” from 2007 – 2014 again touring worldwide.

Stevie was a featured musician on “The Complete Songs of Robert Burns”. A collection collated by Burns specialist Dr Fred Freeman, which remains the benchmark of all Burns songs recordings.

Stevie also recently arranged 3 Burns songs for the JKL Duo album “The International Poet”.
